Project Descripition

Kamal Khan Dam is located in Nimruz province 70 kilometer south-west of the provincial capital Zaranj and 15 Kilometer to the north of Charburjak district. The project includes construction of 1.6km long control dam, 540mlong reinforced concrete spillway, 3km long embankment sections, 44m long powerintake and powerhous complex for power generation and construction of irrigation outlets at both banks of the dam.

Project General Plan

Kamal Khan Flood Control Project was conceived in early 1970’s as multi-purpose project with the main aim to control the recurrent floods and to channelize water for irrigation purposes. The detailed geotechnical investigations for feasibility studies have been carried out and project layouts have been finalized. The project has six main components; Right dyke, Kamal Khan dam-outlets and powerhouse, Control weir and dam section, Main dyke, saddle, Qala Afzal dam-outlet and training dyke. The project has been planned to be completed in three phases, where first two phases has been completed and third phase is under execution.
